The mechanic’s lien process involves two steps and can only be filed by a mechanic who has completed authorised repairs on a vehicle left at their workshop. The vehicle must remain unpaid for at least 30 days after the repairs are completed before a lien can be filed. Mechanic Lien Filing
Your mechanic’s lien will be filed with the appropriate county, and all vehicle owners and lien holders will be notified as required. If the lien is approved by the county and payment for the repairs is not received within the specified time frame, you will be granted authorisation to legally title and sell the vehicle. Please refer to Step 2 for the next phase of the mechanic’s lien process.
Note: Filings are available to businesses operating within participating counties only, including Harris County, Fort Bend County, and Waller County.

Title Transfer, Registration Sticker and License Plates
Once your mechanic’s lien is approved by the county, you will receive legal authorisation to proceed with the sale of the vehicle. At this stage, we will handle all the required documentation to transfer the vehicle into the buyer’s name. The buyer is typically responsible for paying the title transfer fees.
